International conference on Strengthening Parliament’s Oversight Function in Eastern Partnership Countries will be held in Kyiv on 14th of November 2018 06.11.2018

International conference on  Strengthening Parliament’s Oversight Function in Eastern Partnership Countries will be held in Kyiv on 14th of November 2018. Over 100 participants, among them governmental representatives, representatives from German Bundestag and other European parliaments, Supreme Audit Institutions, civil society organizations, scientists and donor communities, will come together to discuss the current challenges and exchange approaches on reforming parliament administrations in the EaP countries.

The conference is organized by the Project “Strengthening the Parliamentary Administration in the Eastern Partnership Countries” funded by EaP Regional Fund for Public Administration Reform (GIZ) and the Project “Good Financial Governance”, implemented by GIZ on behalf of German and British Governments.

Public administration reform is fundamental for the implementation of all other reforms in Eastern Partnership countries. The intention of such reform is to make public administration more citizen-oriented and transparent, while providing faster and better services to citizens and businesses. An efficient, transparent, and citizen-oriented public administration is a precondition for the proper functioning of public governance and socio-economic development of the country.

The conference aims to exchange ideas and approaches on the parliament administration reform, to raise awareness among the main stakeholders and to build contacts on the working level and stronger networks within and between EaP countries for further cooperation.

It will consist of three panel discussions, at the beginning of which an international expert will give a short input to the topic and impulse for further discussions by EaP representatives.

One of the important expected outcomes of the conference is that ideas and recommendations on some particular issues are developed and can be implemented within further regional cooperation activities.
