3rd Working Meeting of Secretaries General of Parliamentary Administrations of the Eastern Partnership Took Place in Lviv 03.06.2019

On May 22-23, third meeting of Secretaries General of the parliamentary administrations of the Eastern Partnership took place in Lviv. It was hosted in the premises of Lviv Regional Council by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat, and it was attended, in particular, by First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat – Chief Manager Petro Bodnar, Secretary General of the Parliament of Georgia Givi Mikanadze and Chief of Staff-Secretary General of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Galstyan. The first working meeting was held in Tbilisi, the second one – in Yerevan

The participants of the working meeting reviewed the current state of cooperation, discussed the operation of the Eastern Partnership research (EPPRN) network under the Tbilisi Memorandum and planned the following steps to strengthen the secretariats of the parliaments of the Eastern Partnership. Also, Georgian side presented the website, which will serve as a platform for the activities of the network of secretaries general of the parliamentary administration of the Eastern Partnership.

Future plans include the involvement of Poland and Sweden, which were the initiators of the Eastern Partnership; meetings and seminars are also planned in Batumi, Berlin, Warsaw, Yerevan and Stockholm.

The result of the third working meeting was the signing of the Lviv Communiqué, which became the final document, which lists the main areas of work of the network.

Taking the opportunity, Secretaries General of the Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Administrations also joined the celebration of the Day of Europe with the solemn Ukrainian and European Union flags raising of Ukraine near the Lviv Regional Council.

3rd Working Meeting of Secretaries General of Parliamentary Administrations of the Eastern Partnership Countries was supported by the Project „Strengthening the Parliamentary Administration in the Eastern Partnership“ of the Eastern Partnership Regional Fund for Public Administration Reform, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
