The 5th Steering Group meeting of the Project “Good Financial Governance in Public Finance III” took place 02.12.2020

For the successful implementation of the good governance principles in Ukraine, it is important to be flexible and work systematically to achieve the desired result. Therefore, in order to strengthen the public finance management system, the 5th meeting of the Coordination Working Group of the project “Effective Public Financial Management III” took place on Monday, November 30 to better coordinate the project, monitor its results, determine activities for the next three months and discuss operating activities for 2021.

The project team met online with partners from the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine, Prozorro.Sales, the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Open Public Finance, EITI Ukraine / IPVG in Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The project director, Dr. Thomas Meyer, thanked the partners for their hard work on the set goals and achieved results. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Dmytro Samonenko, also expressed his support for his colleagues and thanked them for achieving the pre-agreed goals, despite the pandemic challenges.

During the event, project advisors Ruslan Lazarenko, Iryna Harkavtseva, Artem Koval, Svitlana Mizina and Nadiya Rozhko spoke about the main achievements of the previous quarter and presented further planned activities in four areas:

– Staff development and communication support;

– Prerequisites for the implementation of EU and international tax standards;

– Development of public information systems and resources that ensure transparency of the public financial management system;

– The importance and powers of the relevant actors in the field of public financial control and dialogue in the field of financial supervision.

After discussing the planning, the participants gathered in groups for an informal exchange of views on the “Digitalization Process at Institutions”, “Gender Aspects” and “Self-Development”.

The next online meeting is scheduled for March 1, 2021.
